Today was a fun day!!!! A day my girlfriends and I have been anticipating for a while now. The day where we did something new together...very new for some of us. We ran a 5K together. I am so proud of these girls for this huge accomplishment that they achieved, because it's no small thing.
love these girls!!!! we got this pic before the race...before the sweat and red faces.
the beginning of the race
almost finished!!!
I finished with a time of 30:45. I was able to shave 4 seconds off my time from the Calvin Classic I did in April. YAY!!!!
After the 5k we stayed around for the parade and then the boys all ran as well. The three older ones did the Auto Masters Mile Run and Connor did the 1/8 mile Jr Jog. I love seeing the boys run and seeing which ones are competive and which aren't.
Lucas and Brendan just finishing the first quarter mile.
Luc just finishing a 1/2 mile and looks like he is just floating across the track.
Brendan finishing 3/4 of mile and determined not to walk.
Austin is kicking it back into gear when I shouted his name.
Brendan finished with a strong 7:52 mile. Great job b!!!!
Lucas finished his mile at 9:23. Great Job Luc!!!
and Austin bringing in the rear with 9:45. Great Job Austin!!!!
Finally it was time for the most competive of my children....Connor. He was determined that he needed to get first place...so after waiting for the younger age division to race it was finally he turn
and off he went leading the pack
Connor and one other little boy fought for first place...Connor got second and inform me next year he would need faster shoes so he could get first. :)
So proud of you buddy!!!
Me and some of my favorite running buddies. They already asked when we are running again.
Connor is right about the shoes ;) haha!
ReplyDeleteAwesome post of an awesome day! I still can't believe Dan and I did it :) Thank you for the inspiration and the many times you encouraged me when I didn't think I could do the work of training. Great pix of the boys, We can't wait until next year!
What a great bunch of running buddies you have, Cara! Congratulations to all of you and let Connor know that I think 2nd is great :-)
ReplyDeleteI read your blog once in a while (I'm Angie Proudfit's sister-in-law.I think you go to church together) and that little boy that beat your son, is my son. He too is determined to come in first (and his parents kind of are too since he's won since he was 3) :) Could be a good race next year, I'll let him know he has some competition. :)
ReplyDeleteMichelle, does that means you're running with us again next year. :)
