worms, soccer, and derby cars

Worms
Connor found a new friend at the soccer game on Saturday....Wormy the worm.  He so badly want to take the worm home and keep it as a pet.

He did a great job care for it, until he dropped it and the worm tried to escape into the ground, that's then the worm became two worms...and Connor no longer wanted Wormy as a friend.

Soccer
Saturday was the boys' second soccer game of the spring.  All the game have been cold and rainy so far, but the boys are having fun and that's what counts, right???  This week the soccer fields were a muddy mess and the uniforms, OMW...yellow and light gray are not good colors when they get full of mud.

Derby Cars
This is Brendan's first year in Cadets at church.  He loves it!!!!  The monday night meetings, the badges, the campouts with Mike, the inside wall climbing, and the most excited part was the pinewood derby car race....and that was last night.

He was a little bummed he didn't win any of his races, but glad he didn't lose them all either.  There is differently room for improved but that good because he got a few more years in cadets.  We are so proud of him and his accomplishments.

Special Person of the day

We had Tembo, the class elephant, all weekend.  He was well loved and play with during his stay at our house.  Today Tembo had to go back to school, so that means that Connor was the special person of the day.  He got to dress the Weather Bear, write his name on the whiteboard and he had to take snack.  I didn't do anything exciting for snack...just some goldfish but I bet the kids loved them.

wii

wii...oh what a machine you are.
I love you and want to play with you all the time.

but we have rules at our house
 that you probably don't like....
 neither do I.

When we do get to play, it can be days between the times I get to hold your remotes, because my brothers hog them
so when I get to play you all by myself,
 now
 that's
a
treat!!!!!!
We have so much FUN together.

Warriors, more butterflies, and cupcakes

it's been a while since my last post, life has been busy, excited, tearful, and happy.  Wow, now that's a lot for one post.  So let's begin...

WARRIORS
The last few days have been rough to say the least...one of my closest friend, Jamie got some horrible news on Tuesday.  She is 16 weeks pregnant and Tuesday she had an appt for an ultrasound.  As all women know, ultrasound are usually exciting, but scary at the same time.  We get to see our precious baby for the first time (or many the second or third time :)), hear the heartbeat again and maybe even find out what sex the baby will be...it's a day dreams can come true.  unfortunately that was not what happened on Tuesday for my friend Jamie...she was told that things didn't look good.  It make a long story shorter, there is no amniotic fluid and the baby will not survive without it.  WHY!!!!  Why does God let this happen!!!!   She has prayed for the baby for a long time and it just doesn't make sense that God would take this baby away from them.

So here's where the warriors part fits into this story...I need pray warriors to come along side of me and pray.  Pray for a miracle. Pray for the Ultimate Healer to heal...all things are possible with him.  I know if it is His will that this precious little one will be made whole and live a long life.  I also know that prayer is a powerful thing.  I know God is faithful to hear our prayers and answer them.  Will you pray with me for this family?

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.
Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
Then you will experience God’s peace,
which exceeds anything we can understand.
His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Phil 4:6-7 (New Living Transition)

More Butterflies
Also on Tuesday, I had the opportunity to go on a Field Trip with my twins to Frederick Meijer Gardens.  You may remember I was just there a short time ago with my preschooler.  It was Austin's first day back to school after have strep throat.  He was so tired but really wanted to go on the Field Trip.  Butterflies weren't really flying around cause it was cloudy and rainy, but I was so proud to see all the excited Lucas had every time he saw another butterfly.

After visiting the butterfly gardens, we headed to a different part of the building to do a craft and learn about metamorphosis.  I am still in amazement about the lifecycle of a butterfly...just another one of the many incredible things God created.

Cupcakes
Tuesday was also the day, Connor's class celebrating his teacher's birthdays. One of the things I love most about being a SAHM is that I get to help out at the boys' school.  I love being in the classroom help for extra special events the kids get to experience and celebrate.  This year I am the room mom for Connor's class and with that comes the teacher's birthday celebrations and there is no better way to have a birthday than to eat cupcakes.

Connor was so excited when he found what that I wanted his help in the kitchen to make cupcakes for his teachers birthdays. He did such a great job...and there were no messes. :)

Road Trip

Well, it's spring break here in Michigan and to be honest I wasn't really looking forward to having to entertain the kids for 7 days while school was closed.  But I spent much time asking God for tons of patience and for the boys to be nice to each other and so far it's not as bad as I anticipated.

So Friday was their first day with no school and some of friends had previously visited the Legoland Discovery Center in Schaumburg, IL and really enjoyed it.  So, what the heck, we headed out after Connor's eye doc appt Friday afternoon.  The drive was going great until Mike forgot to set the GPS to avoid toll roads and we hit Chicago at 6 pm on a Friday night.  I actually had Lucas crying in the backseat because he was afraid on the traffic and wanted to go back home...that's when the built in DVD player came in handy.  First the noise level in the van went from 10 to almost a 1 with an occasional burst of laughter and it took Lucas' mind off the roads.

Finally about 8 pm we arrived at our hotel room.  Mike dropped me, Brendan and Connor off to check in and head up to the room, while He and the twins went looking for ice cream.   The room was small but I guess that's what you get when you try to cram 6 people into a hotel room built for 4 people.  But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do when you're dutch.  Soon after indulging on the ice cream and watching some TV the boys settled down and were soon fast to sleep.

The hotel beds slept good that night and with the boys stirring at 6am there were no signs of sleeping in.  So we hung around in the room while Mike  ran out for a latte from Starbucks for me.   What a treat it was!!!!  After during breakfast in two shifts and some more TV in the hotel room we finally headed out to the van to head over to Legoland.  The boys are beyond excited.

We arrived at Legoland a few minutes later to be greeted by a long line of other lego enthusiasts and their parents.  So we joined them at the end of the line and waited until it was our turn to head inside.

Finally we were inside, and the first thing we saw was a mini replica for downtown Chicago.

Farther along we saw many more things ...

Then we waited in another line for the dragontale ride.

Then we headed to the 4D movie that lasts a ton of 10 minutes and there was a bonus...we got wet.
and then another line for another ride...good thing the lines were short.

Then we stopped for lunch while we waited for our reserved time in the workshop.
then off to the workshop we went...the boys got to build an airplane.

then We headed down to the retail shop which is what Austin was most looking forward to...he had extra birthday money that he still needed to spend.  The new legos were all built by the time the boys went to bed that night.  It's been kinda nice have new toys in the house that they can all play with together.  So far it's been keeping them from ripping each others heads off.
All in all is was a good road trip.
